The President of the Republic, Bajram Begaj, received today the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia, Mr. Gordan Grli? Radman, who is in Tirana for an official visit. 

Referring to the very good and traditionally friendly relations and strategic partnership between the two countries, President Begaj welcomed Croatia's entry into the Schengen area and the Eurozone.

"Croatia remains a very good example for Albania and all the countries of the region" - underlined President Begaj. 

In particular, President Begaj focused on the cooperation within the European integration process of Albania and expressed his gratitude for the support that Croatia has always given to Albania in this regard. Also, President Begaj assessed that Croatian expertise and knowledge in this regard are very valuable for the Albanian negotiating team, especially at this stage of the EU accession negotiations. 

The head of state also appreciated the very close cooperation within the regional cooperation, underlining that the role of Croatia for the security, stability and development of the region is very important. In this context, President Begaj appreciated the close cooperation as an ally in NATO, as well as the support that Croatia has given to Kosovo for membership in regional and international organizations, but also for visa liberalization and dialogue with Serbia. 

The two interlocutors also focused on the negative effects produced for the Western Balkan region by the Russian military aggression in Ukraine, as well as the need for closer coordination and cooperation in this regard to minimize the intervention of malicious third actors. 

Also, both interlocutors appreciated the mutual support of the candidacies for the United Nations Security Council./ CNA.al
