The municipality of Tirana has completed the construction of the new road that connects the village of Shëngjin with the village of Shën Meri in Shëngjergj.

The completion of the works was closely followed by the mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, and the deputy of the SP, Xhemal Qefalia, who emphasized that the improvement of the infrastructure brings the revitalization of rural areas.

"If you look at the quality of the work done here, it is no different from the work done in the city. This is evidence of an equal standard. Even the new road of Krraba brought life. The road brings opportunities and I believe it will bring back not only people who have their roots in the countryside, but I'm sure it will bring people from the city who, either want to retire here, or open an agritourism, or to invest in village lands. When we built the new Qeha road, then no one was passing, meanwhile, as soon as the road was finished, the square meter went from 10-15 thousand lek to 100-120 euros", said Veliaj.

He stated that the plans of the Municipality of Tirana also include the revitalization of life in the villages, with numerous social and cultural activities.

"Suddenly the road turns into a multiple opportunity, which creates economy for the village. We need to make up for lost time. We have had 30 years of hibernation, people have fled and the rural economy has been reduced, so now we have to increase it. One of our plans is to bring life to these communities. So, first roads and infrastructure, then as we did the 'Tomato Festival', the 'Vineyard Festival' or the 'Oil Festival', we will also find a reason for the village of Saint Meri to bring people back here", underlined Veliaj .
