Albin Kurti's message on the 16th anniversary of Independence

On the 16th anniversary of Independence, the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Altin Kurti, declared that the Republic of Kosovo was built with the support of international partners and allies.

At the government meeting, Kurti emphasized that Kosovo will be the home of all citizens without distinction.

"Today, the Republic of our country celebrates its 16th anniversary. This year we mark two important anniversaries, the 26th anniversary of the Epic of the Kosovo Liberation Army and the 25th anniversary of our liberation from the occupation of Serbia", Kurti said.

The head of the government emphasized that the origin of the republic is the liberation war and the centuries-old movements and resistance of our people for freedom.

"Where we came from, where we are and where we are going, these are questions that we ask individually and together. Today I am dressed in the garb of the Prime Minister of Kosovo, that is, your chief servant. We come from a liberation battle with an anti-colonial character that has its roots in the Albanian national renaissance, the origin of our republic is the liberation war and the centuries-old movements and resistance of our people for freedom. We survived the genocide of the end of the 20th century after the devastating war of 98, 99, we rebuilt our homes, with the support of international partners and allies we built our common home, the Republic of Kosovo. With justice and equality for its rights contributing to peace and a guarantee for peace, a state that has democratic values, respect for human rights and all minorities at the core of every political and social course", he said.

In his speech, the head of the government of Kosovo underlined that Kosovo is an independent and indivisible sovereign state, just like the day it was announced 16 years ago.

"A quarter of a century after the war, our Republic remains strong, despite the challenges, our country is developing. Kosovo is an independent and indivisible sovereign state, just like on the day it was declared 16 years ago, Kosovo was, is and will be the home of all its citizens without distinction, today we celebrate and congratulate not only the Albanians but also the non-majority community in our republic Euro-Atlantic integrations are because they should be our polar star from where we are going, for equality between the peoples and our continent and peace within the states, for security for all for each and every one, the vision is clear - we align ourselves with peaceful nations democratic that embodies freedom, unity and solidarity, this is the reason why we applied for membership in the Council of Europe and the EU", he said. /CNA
