"Don't open the files"/ Fatmir Mediu raises his voice in the Law

The chairman of the Republican Party, Fatmir Mediu, has appealed not to open the files of former political victims.

With the argument that the suffering and hardships of the families who suffered from communism would increase, Mediu raised his voice in the Laws Commission, thus causing a debate.

“Të hapen dosjet, por nuk mund ti bëjmë moral ish-të përndjekurve politikë. Ka histori të presioneve brenda familjes që ne nuk mund t’i rindezim. Nëse nuk u dhamë mundësinë që për këto krime nuk ka asnjë përgjegjës sot, të paktën të mos u shtojmë mundimet brenda familjeve. Vetë shteti funksionon bazuar mbi balancën e pushteteve. Nuk fillon çdo gjë kur na do qejfi ne për të goditur politikisht. Do të ishte e drejtë që të orientohemi drejtë transparencës. Shtresën e të përndjekurve politikë duhet ta përjashtojmë për të mos i shtuar më shumë se çka kaluar në këto 30 vite”, është shprehur Mediu.

Kryetarja e Komisionit të Ligjeve, Klotilda Bushka është kundërpërgjigjur duke thënë se nisma është tërësisht në përputhje me të drejtën e publikut për transparencë dhe të drejtë informimi.

"It is for those persons who can exercise public functions. It is a powerful symbol for future generations. You may have your right to prejudge it", Bushka said.
