The chairman of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta, has raised the alarm about the decrease in livestock production and the increase in prices.

Through a status on social networks, Meta says that the price increases of any product are scary.

He stated that the reduction in production will increase the temptation of counterfeiters to sell milk powder and palm oil in order to reduce production costs.

Also, Meta emphasizes that the quality and safety of the products is being damaged.

"The intentional destruction of livestock in Albania has caused not only a significant decrease in livestock production and automatically a frightening increase in the prices of every product, but it has turned into a serious risk for the health of the consumer.

In the period 2013-2023, the decrease in milk production in Albania was 161,000 tons. This reduction will increase the temptation for counterfeiters and speculators to use additional low-priced ingredients such as powdered milk and palm oil, in order to reduce production costs, undermining the quality and safety of products.

The huge increase in imports of powdered milk and palm oil has also caused significant damage to our livestock farmers, whose organic products are harmed by unfair competition.

On the other hand, their abusive use brings serious danger to the population, so it is very important to strengthen the controlling and preventive role of the laboratories of the National Food Authority.
