The legal representative of the DP, Ivi Kaso, reacted in a statement to the media about the SPAK decision, which demands 2.6 years in prison for the elected mayor of Himara.

Kaso has accused SPAK of playing the role of Rama's political prosecution.

According to him, Beler's punishment is aimed at grabbing the lands of the Himariots, lands which will soon be made available to the "strategic investors" of Edi Rama.

Kaso has called on the citizens that on February 20, everyone should come down to the square to say no to corruption, no to bad governance, no to captured justice, no to the economic ruin and depopulation of the country.

"Yesterday's court hearing against Fredi Beleri, the freely elected mayor of Himara Municipality, proved once again and without any doubt the fact that SPAK is playing the role of Edi Rama's political prosecution. He is even playing this role with zeal and devotion!

In this whole shameful affair of the elimination of the political opponent, SPAK has "broken its record": SPAK agreed to examine a case which was cooked up with falsified evidence by the police that we "love" Edi Rama. SPAK further refused to all the overwhelming evidence and legitimate demands requested by Fredi Beleri in the hearing, even though the facts clearly showed that the case was mounted, with evidence that did not exist, on documents that were proven to be forged.

But it doesn't end there: SPAK was "careful" to exert the right pressure on the trial body, which cold-bloodedly rejected all the evidence offered by the defense, which proved that the case was fabricated and staged only for the political purpose of hijacking the City Hall of Himara by Edi Rama.

This vicious political process is inspired by Edi Rama and executed by the State Police and SPAK. The goal is to grab the lands of the Himarjots, massacre the lands of the sea coast, the land which will soon be made available to the "strategic investors" of Edi Rama.

For this reason, the mayor of Himarë should not be allowed to swear, even though it is a flagrant constitutional violation. Fredi Beleri should be punished for this even though the falsified evidence against him is ridiculous. SPAK guarantees this by doing what the political and economic interest of Rama's clan requires.

This so banal and ugly affair speaks volumes, not only about the standard of elections held in Albania, but above all about "our anti-corruption heroes", who blacken the white and erase the black.

These heroes, who have taken the kallah for the opposition and are slaughtering it in the name of the new renaissance justice, produce indulgences for the government that with its corruption is tearing up and destroying the country.

We are witnessing the destructive standard that SPAK and its judiciary are applying. We see how the well-deserved dream of Albanians for elusive justice has been undone. We see how SPAK processes are clearly political and not at all justice. And all Albanians see it like us. We want justice because we are very interested in it. But we can't keep quiet when they sell us cheese soap. We are here to tell the truth, however bitter it may be. We will not allow Albania to be undone by Edi Rama and his government. Nor from the instruments it uses to subdue the opposition.
