The chairman of the Republican Party, Fatmir Mediu, reacted after the serious incident where the chief democrat, Sali Berisha, was punched.

The media has claimed that this is a scandalous event and has described it as violence against freedom and the opposition by the Prime Minister and the government.

"The attack on Berisha is a scandalous and shameful event, which clearly shows that the situation in Albania is in the hands of violence and crime.

This is violence against freedom and the entire opposition, it is violence against Albanians who want a state that serves their European goals and not criminal and corrupt interests.

This act today, on the day the European Summit is held in Tirana, clearly shows how far from Europe we really are.

The language of violence against the opposition manifested in the parliament until the elimination of the opposition, by the Prime Minister and the government creates premises for such acts of violence.

The government has the responsibility and duty not to allow violence, to guarantee the protest, not to affect the opposition and moreover its leader.
