Martin Henze, at Berisha's protest/ Rama's accusation: You manipulated
Martin Henze

The adviser on economic issues in the CDU and the former close adviser of the German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Martin Henze, took part this evening in the protest of the supporters of the former prime minister Sali Berisha.

Henze threw accusations at Prime Minister Edi Rama, whom he claims came to power through rigged elections.

He stated that Sali Berisha, Fredi Beleri and Ervin Salianji were deprived of their freedom without any legal basis.

The German councilor demanded the release of the head of the DP and called on the citizens to stand up against the government.

Full statement:

Today, over 32 years after Albania won the right to determine its own destiny,

The challenge continues to lead Albania to the future, to perfect it.

The challenge continues because of Rama's governance.

The challenge continues because the elections in Albania have been manipulated, since 2013 about 1.4 million Albanians have left the country in a mass exodus, it continues because the corruption of the Rama government, the export of drugs to Europe, money laundering and human trafficking are increasing rapidly exponential.

The challenge continues, because before the next parliamentary elections in 2025, with Rama's autocracy, attempts are being made to close the mouths and minds of Albanians through repression, as in Myanmar or Moscow, as in the communist times in Albania before 1992.

Leaders of the opposition, such as Sali Berisha, as the mayor of Himara, Fredi Beleri, as the deputy of the Democratic Party in Albania, Ervin Salianji, have been imprisoned without any legal basis.

This is the Albania of 2024, Albania is on the way to a police state, oriented by Moscow, on the Serbian model, according to Europe's biggest newspaper, Bild, run by Rama's mafia government.

But the revolution of 1992 continues now in 2024. In 2024/2025 it is about

the future of Albania, as in 1992.

We Germans do not stand on the side of a party that came to power through elections manipulated by Rama.

No, we Germans stand on the side of the tortured Albanian people, on the side of the Albanian opposition and its leader, Sali Berisha.

The Albanian autocracy can spend as much money as it wants and donate, even bribe politicians in Germany, organize photographs and participation in party activities, but this will not help it further.

What brought this country, Albania, out of the depths of despair in 1991 and raised it to the heights of hope in 1992; good development in the following years catapulted Albania into the 20th century, the belief that - although we all follow our individual dreams - you are his Albanian family, and that you will rise or fall together as a nation and as a people .

Today in 2024, you, the Albanian people, must remember that - although the road has been difficult and your journey long - you must rise again as in 1992, and fight for the future of your families in Albania.

There should be no more refugees, but Albanians should want to return again from abroad.

For this, Albanians need freedom, democracy, rule of law and economic growth, and not Rama's autocracy.

For this, the leader of the Albanian opposition, Sali Berisha, should be released from prison immediately. There is no legal basis to keep him under arrest.

Lord Rama, release Sali Berisha.

We all have our opinion.

We all have our deeply held beliefs.

And when you live in difficult times, when as a people, as an opposition, as a country you make big decisions, this naturally arouses passion, brings discord.

That won't change and it shouldn't.

These collisions are a sign of your freedom.

Never forget that right now there are people, just like you, in faraway places risking their lives for the chance to debate important issues, for the chance to cast their vote, just like you.

You are not alone, do not allow a constitutional coup, remember 1992, we Germans also stand by your side.

You know, deep in your heart: Enough is enough.

You know, deep in your heart: The best for Albania is yet to come.

Thank you. Thank you. Many thanks. Long live Albania!/ CNA
