The transformation of the University of Korça/ Manastirliu presents the

Minister of Education, Ogerta Manastirliu

The Minister of Education, Ogerta Manastirliu, presented the transformation and development plan of the University of Korça.

Manastirliu said that the plan aims to profile the university of Korça. According to her, this will enable study programs to be oriented towards the labor market, but also regional developments.

Regarding the internationalization of the University of Korça, Manastirliu said that this process is part of the transformation program and development plan of the University of Korça.

"Today we are in Korça with the rector of the university and colleague Peleshi, also with professors from the University of Korça and professors from the Diaspora, where together, as the Minister of Education and Sports supported by the Albanian-American Foundation for Development, we will present the plan of the transformation and development of the University of Korça.

A plan which has been drawn up with the contribution of the entire group of engaged experts which includes three of our academics in the Diaspora where they contribute to this development plan, which aims to profile the University of Korça but also to provide a model to also lead the development for our regional universities to be more attractive to students. Their study programs can orient them towards the labor market, but also regional developments.

Therefore, the university will be one of our pilot projects to start the implementation phase of this transformative plan that will aim not only at the revision in all study programs for bachelor's, master's and doctorate cycles, we will aim to go towards the university intelligent where exactly the University of Korça will be oriented towards technology and agricultural development without leaving aside other programs related to the humanities, knowing that here we have centers that develop not only activities related to teaching but also in the Albanian field and other important elements that we want to strengthen.

So, the profiling is done with the aim of strengthening the university and the transformation to have students whose diplomas can bring them closer to the labor market in the fastest possible time and to increase their interest not only among the young people of Korça but also of the region and beyond, because in the focus of profiling the University of Korça to make it an intelligent university, there will also be a focus to increase investments in scientific research infrastructure, laboratories to set up centers of excellence to give the university Korça that transformation necessary to optimize scientific research programs but also to give more regional access."

Regarding the decrease in the number of students of priority programs who would benefit from the payment of the minimum salary, the minister says:

"Regarding the quotas of scholarships equal to the minimum wage and priority programs, we are committed to having support for students of priority programs every year. This year there has been a reorganization of the mechanism related to support with scholarships equal to the minimum wage, are 100 study quotas which are distributed throughout the country such as teaching, natural sciences, and agriculture. These are new quotas for universities, let's not forget that we have 210 students who benefit from the minimum wage scholarships, also students from excellence that together with the new scholarship quotas will go to 400 students."

Regarding the internationalization of the University of Korça:

"Internationalization is part of the transformation program and development plan of the University of Korça, where joint study programs, double degrees and the opening of campuses of other universities, is one of our objectives, while internationalization is part of the profiling process, since the goal is not only the creation of the opportunity for the opening of foreign and dual programs, but on the other hand, the bringing of lecturers who are foreign or from the Diaspora, to be lecturers and why not to lead different departments of the university."/ CNA
