In his reaction from prison, the chairman of PL, Ilir Meta, denied the accusations of LSI's lobbying in the USA.

Meta claimed that he did not authorize illegal actions, as he said that the contracts were made according to Albanian and American laws.

He stated that the company "McKeon Group" signed the contract with a Greek-American lawyer Fideszis, without his knowledge and authorization or that of LSI.

Excerpt from the statement:

Regarding lobbying, as I clarified in the courtroom, to my knowledge everything was done according to Albanian and American laws and I never authorized illegal actions.

In the courtroom I demonstrated with a concrete document how the company "McKeon Group" had registered with FARA (Department of Justice) a contract signed by a Greek-American Fideszis lawyer, without my and LSI's knowledge and authorization.

On January 20, the President of "McKeon Group" officially asked FARA (Department of Justice) to correct that agreement after the Speaker of the Parliament of Albania, Mr. Ilir Meta told us that this person was not authorized by him and LSI and that the goals of cooperation are different.

Likewise, I have to clarify that regarding the two lobbying companies presented by the Albanian-American, Adrian Shatku, to my knowledge, every decision of LSI has been legal in respect of Albanian and American law.

If SPAK finds discrepancies between declarations to the CEC and benefits from lobbying companies for the interest of LSI, SPAK and the FBI have had every opportunity to verify which persons or companies have paid in the USA and decide on criminal prosecution.

It is indisputable that I, Ilir Meta, authorized someone to do such actions or that I had knowledge.

But SPAK is not interested in the truth of the responsibility, but the attempt to create the smoke that as long as these are declared as services to LSI and Ilir Meta, the payer is Ilir Meta, when this is untrue and SPAK and the FBI know who it is the payers who must answer to Albanian and American laws.

Likewise, I must distance myself with disgust from the hints and insinuations made by SPAK from the phone records seized from my ex-wife that I have influenced in favor of the Albanian-American businessman, Adrian Shatku, and I was aware of the benefits from the former - my wife.

This is a desperate attempt by SPAK to add one more insinuation to the long lightning sheet.

Even more shameful is the conclusion that I benefited from the cards that my ex-wife received and used from Adrian Shatku, which I would never have allowed.

Likewise, the conclusion that the Speaker of the Assembly intervened to make a legal change in favor of a businessman is absurd.

The law-making procedure is defined as to how it starts and concludes, and the role of the Speaker of the Assembly is like that of any other deputy in the vote, based on his conviction.

How was SPAK not concerned about many custom laws and proper names that Edi Rama made and were denounced by the President of the Republic?

Even more absurd is the conclusion that since the Speaker of the Parliament talked with the President of AKEP about the concerns raised by the only Albanian company in the field of telecommunications, PLUS, there was intervention for favoritism when their complaint was that they were being discriminated against by foreign companies .

While at PLUS, we had Albanian shareholders and their concern could not be ignored.

In conclusion for today, the entire SPAK Whistleblower against me is an excuse to carry out the act of kidnapping and deep political isolation, in order to coordinate with Edi Rama, Erion Velina, SHISH and their associates infiltrated into the Party of Freedom to seize the direction of this political force, to turn it into a regime freshman.

This will never happen, so I ask the General Secretary, Mr. Tedi Blushi, the Presidency and all our structures around the country, to give the deserved response to this ominous scenario for democracy, that the Freedom Party cannot become the Party of Betrayal./ CNA
