Prime Minister Edi Rama said at the Paris Peace Forum that if the European Union did not exist, Albania, after years of dictatorship, would have the fate of Afghanistan and Iraq. He considered the EU a blessing for every European.

"I said something about a topic and you called me an Orbanist. He is my friend but I am not an Orbanist. I have a completely different opinion from Viktor when it comes to the European Union. It is the most extraordinary political project that humanity has ever seen. The EU is the greatest blessing. Albania in the EU is exactly what can be called a blessing. After 50 years of isolation and dictatorship, and the EU was not there, we would have had the same fate as Afghanistan and Iraq. The EU is something that every European should enjoy from the founding fathers, " he said. 

Asked what he thinks about the agreement between US President Donald Trump and Xi Jinping, Rama said this is a good thing for the whole world.

"I was in Riyadh last night and didn't have time to ask you what you're going to do tomorrow. Any agreement between the US and China is good for everyone and any conflict between them is bad for everyone. When America sneezes, the world coughs. When China sneezes, the world goes into quarantine. But we can't afford to cough or go into quarantine," he said. /CNA
