Creation of a State Bank/Tobacco, government accusation: New pyramid on the
MP Jorida Tabaku

MP Jorida Tabaku has accused the government of seeking to create a State Bank, which she says is a bankruptcy scheme.

Tabaku declares that this government initiative is to finance failed projects such as incinerators and to build a pyramid on the backs of citizens.

According to the MP, this government is building a state-owned pyramid scheme with great financial risk.

"The State Bank is a bankruptcy scheme!"

In Albania 2025, where the government has seized every link in the state, another absurd project is now emerging: the creation of a State Bank.

Yes, you read that correctly! In a country where the private banking sector is among the most developed in the region, the government has decided to intervene where there is no place. And why? To feed another clientelistic mechanism, to finance failed projects like incinerators, to create a new pyramid on the backs of citizens.

Why a state-owned bank? Why now? When we privatized the entire banking sector 15 years ago and when private banks have achieved high standards, what can this bank do that the private sector does not? The answer is simple: a bank that is not for the development of citizens, but for the interests of oligarchs who are looking for another mechanism to squeeze public funds.

1. Financing for the untouchables: When private banks refuse to lend to risky projects or companies without guarantees, the State Bank will be there. For the incinerators. For the "friends." For the grand schemes that fail.

2. Economic ruin: Any failure of this bank means a loss of public funds, and in the end who pays? You, the citizens, who today struggle to survive amidst taxes and inflation.

3. Total state capture: Having privatized ports, airports, and concessioned everything of value, they now seek to enter the banking system – the only sector that functions without state interference. This is economic robbery, done openly.

What is happening is not development, it is megalomania and abuse of power. This government is building a "state pyramid scheme" with great risk to our finances. We know from history where such schemes lead us. And we cannot allow this to happen again!", writes Tabaku./ CNA
