DP denunciation/ Tirana Municipality denies rental bonus to beneficiaries

The Democratic Party's spokesperson for corruption, Genta Vangjeli, condemned the rental bonuses provided by the Municipality of Tirana. Vangjeli brought a documented case where a pensioner couple did not receive the full rental bonus, while in August 2022, the Municipality stopped it completely.

Although the retired couple made a request to the Municipality for the extension of the rental bonus, to this day there has been no development or announcement from the Municipality of Tirana.

The denunciation of the DP:

The following citizens' complaints have been received by the DP:

1. Office of Hasan Gjalpi and Halil Isuf Gjalpi as well as

2. Alfons Halil Gjalpi

The above persons are beneficiaries of the rental subsidy treatment from the Municipality of Tirana.

Citizens reported that many times they have not received the full amount of the rent bonus according to their respective VKBs, and since August 2022, the municipality has discontinued the rent bonus.

The retired couple Zyra and Halil Gjalpi live in a rented apartment, as well as their son Alfons Halil Gjalpi, who is the head of the family and separated from his parents, lives in a rented apartment in another apartment.

Faced with the inability to cover rental expenses in favor of landlords, a fact proven by documents, citizens with minimal income and additional costs of their treatment for medical medications, on September 22, 2023, submitted a specific request to the Tirana Municipality with the aim of continuing the payment of the rental bonus.

In its response, the municipality announced that after reviewing the file by the Social Housing Directorate, the Housing Commission will conduct its assessment and then the Municipal Council, as the decision-making body, will decide which citizens will benefit from the rental subsidy.

And there is still no other reaction, while the rent expenses continue. The Democratic Party appeals for emergency intervention in resolving this situation and obtaining the arrears and current rents of citizens Zyra Hasan Gjalpi and Halil Isuf Gjalpi, as well as the other head of the family, Alfons Halil Gjalpi.

The Democratic Party will pursue and protect the rights of these citizens in need, as well as anyone else who is protected by the law and the corrupt state of Edi Rama, who does not forget to raise the salaries of those in power and pay for incinerators that do not exist, but oppresses, tramples, violates and impoverishes the common people to the extreme. /CNA
