Race for the "Primaries"/ The head of the DP branch in Elbasan resigns

Blendi Himci has resigned from his position as the head of the DP branch in Elbasan to become part of the "Primary" competition for the selection of candidates for the 2025 elections.

Himci has requested the votes of the Democrats to continue his mission for the city of Elbasan.

"Dear members and supporters of the Elbasan Democratic Party!

About 3 years ago, at a time not very easy for our political family, thanks to your support and trust, I was elected leader of the Elbasan branch of the Democratic Party of Albania. In respect of your trust, but also the virtues that characterize me as an individual, I put all my energy into the battles that followed, which, to be honest, have not been easy at all.

During this period, I have tried with all my heart not only to fulfill my functional duties, but also to do everything to unite and strengthen our branch.

I think it is time to take another step. You know that based on the instructions of the DPA leadership, the function of the Branch Chairman conflicts with the Primary process and for this reason, I humbly announce my resignation as Chairman of the Democratic Party Elbasan Branch. My principles are strong, so I appreciate the Primary process as an opportunity to receive your vote of confidence for the list of candidates for deputies of the Democratic Party for the elections of May 11, 2025, which I cannot achieve without your support!

I know that even in this battle I will not lack your appreciation and support, and I am humbled before you.

My vision is only one. A better Elbasan for our children, so that they can see their future here. As a son of this troubled city, I would translate your vote of confidence into more work, a critical voice in Parliament, which lobbies hard for the city, to return it to its fellow citizens, but also so that the Democratic Party can achieve the victory that we all eagerly await.

Anyone who knows me knows that my journey in politics has not been immediate or simple. No one has given me this, nor the positions that have been entrusted to me over the years. But I believe that the time has come for another chapter. My candidacy as a member of parliament, more than a personal ambition, is a moral obligation for the city, my children, family, friends and for those who expect more from my sublime vision and dedication.

These 12 years in opposition have not been easy at all, so the Albanians and citizens of Elbasan deserve to be led to bring about change.

Dear democrats of my city, as I have extended my hand to you in these 3 years for cooperation, for being part of the opposition action and for this I am grateful to you, since you have always been there, I ask for your support in these Primaries as well. I am convinced that today, tomorrow and the days that will follow will be brighter for our political family, the city of Elbasan and Albania!
