Conference in Rome/ Rama: Albania supports allies in the Ukraine war

Prime Minister Edi Rama participated today in the Conference on the Recovery of Ukraine. The conference was held this Thursday in Rome.

In his speech, Rama expressed the country's readiness in the Ukrainian war and that in this regard, Albania stands by its European allies. 

"Albania is a very small country with modest resources, it does not have the power to change much on the battlefield, but we have been and will be together with Italy and our European partners, whenever and wherever Ukraine wants us to be."

However, I want to share with you in this city that while we support Ukraine in its struggle and reconstruction, we must do our utmost not to let peace take second place in our thoughts. We must not let the word peace further divide our democratic states.


We should not let anyone outside the borders of democratic Europe lecture us, the European Community, on what peace is and what this peace sounds like. We are not a warmongering community and Ukraine is neither the aggressor nor the author of this bloody war on the doorstep of Europe.

"Talking about peace does not stop war, nor does it make Vladimir Putin a peacemaker. While we do all the right things not to let Ukraine down, we will not be strong enough to end this war if we do not have a courageous plan for peace," Rama said. /CNA
