"This ends now"/ Berisha: We halve the fee and remove the average

The Chairman of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, unveiled the program for Education and Science. Berisha emphasized that fees at universities will be halved, and also announced the abolition of the average admission to universities. Berisha stated that Albanian students cannot pay more than their peers in Austria, Germany or France.  

"A different attitude towards students. University admissions will be different, it is no longer the average that leads, no, it will be removed. Of course, admissions will be transparent. Fees will be halved, at least.

I understand and sympathize with the academic world, which, due to a lack of budget, sees student fees as a very important source of income.

But, I guarantee that the budget for education will be doubled, while the fees, a student in Albania cannot pay a fee two or three times higher than a student in Austria, or a student in Germany, or a student in France.

"These are absurd things, at a time when the parents of those students have incomes 5-6 times higher than the parents of these students here. This is over! I said it once again, the minimum will be halved, but it can also be reduced to 1/3 depending on the case", said Berisha. /CNA
