May 11th Elections/ 150 million lek fund approved for political parties

The Economy Committee has approved a fund of 150 million lek to be distributed to political parties for the May 11 elections. In the previous elections, 130 million lek were distributed.

The fund was increased by 20 million lekë, because the diaspora will also vote in these elections.

"In accordance with point 1 of Article 88 of the Electoral Code, it has been determined that political parties participating in the elections and that have received no less than 1% of the votes nationwide in the most recent preceding elections of the same type benefit from funds from the state budget based on the number of votes that each party received in those elections.

The fund for this purpose is determined by a decision of the Assembly and contains a separate item in the state budget. This fund cannot be less than the total amounts distributed to parties in the previous elections. So today, we want you to decide how much the campaign fund for the May 2025 elections will be.

For information, in the previous elections of the same type as the 2021 elections, by decision of the Assembly, 130 million lek have been allocated for the campaign of political parties and the relevant fund has been approved by the Council of Ministers.
