The Head of the OSCE Presence in Albania, Ambassador Michel Tarran, has given a message for the May 11 elections.

The ambassador's message coincides with the occasion of World Election Day.

This message, according to the OSCE, recalls the importance of democratic processes, the fundamental right to vote, and the power of citizens' voices in shaping Albania's future.

“The general elections on May 11 will be an important moment for democracy in Albania, as citizens elect their representatives in the Assembly for the next four years. Active participation in the elections strengthens public trust in democratic institutions and processes, ensuring that every voice counts. Check your voter registration in the voter list extract at the Civil Status Office of your administrative unit, on the website/application of the Central Election Commission, or through the e-Albania portal.

These elections are also historic because, for the first time, eligible Albanian citizens who do not live in Albania will have the opportunity to vote from abroad. To properly exercise this right and help shape Albania's future, we urge all eligible voters abroad to register by March 4, 2025, according to the CEC's instructions.

We particularly appreciate the essential role of young people in building a stronger democracy. Get informed, get involved and make your voice heard by voting! In close cooperation with the CEC, the OSCE Presence in Albania remains committed to supporting the widest possible participation of young people in the elections and to promoting an inclusive electoral process.
