Esmeralda Demiraj resigns/ PL reacts: She set a condition to be a candidate in

One of the members of the Freedom Party, Esmeralda Demiraj, who has also held other positions in this party, announced today that she is resigning from all commitments.

In a post on social media, Demiraj writes that he has made the decision to leave the party, of which he has been a part for about 14 years.

"Honorable friends, supporters and sympathizers who have accompanied me in many electoral battles and challenges since my membership and early engagement in the former LSI and the Freedom Party today,

I feel a moral obligation to share with you today my decision to resign from this party, giving up every function I have held to date, such as:

1. Chairwoman of the Women's Movement for Integration in the Freedom Party for Albania,

2. Member of the Presidency of the Freedom Party and the Executive Presidency,

3. Member of the National Steering Committee,

4. Vice President of the Tirana Organizing Committee,

5. Political delegate in Administrative Unit No. 4, Tirana, for the elections of May 11, 2025.

"During my 14 years in the party, I have had the privilege of contributing to several key positions and various electoral campaigns for the parliamentary elections (candidate in 2021) and local elections (candidate in 2023). My commitment has had a single goal: to be the voice of those who believed in me, to represent the concerns, hopes and needs of citizens with dedication and honesty," Demiraj writes, among other things.

A few minutes later, a reaction came from the Freedom Party, through spokesperson Jasmira Memelli.

According to the PL, Esmeralda Demiraj resigned after being made a condition to be a candidate for MP in the May 11 elections. In response, the PL implies that the request may have been for the Fier list, where it says that on behalf of the "Alliance for a Greater Albania" coalition, Brunilda Haxhiu, Deputy Secretary General, will run on a closed list. /CNA
