Former MP Ervin Salianji reacted today after the High Court rejected his appeal against the 1-year prison sentence by the Court of General Appeals in the "Babale" case.

In a reaction on social media, Salianji attacks the court like Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj, saying he is not surprised by the Supreme Court's decision.

Salianji states that his punishment is political and is done to eliminate him from the political battle!

Salianji adds that he will seek his freedom beyond the country's institutions, and will then turn to the Strasbourg Court.

Leaving in force a punishment instigated, requested and devised by Edi Rama, drafted by him, announced by him in Parliament, ardently defended by him, is the short and comfortable path that the Supreme Court chose today. They have no professional ethics nor the minimal courage to provide justice and enter into conflict with Edi Rama.
This is a line of conduct.
If the Supreme Court were a guarantee of the right, it would be a guarantee of a regular and lawful legal process, not even the courts below would dare to sign the farces that are signed.
My political punishment is made to eliminate me from the political battle!

They started by paying fake witnesses, they caught the police directors paying the fake witness, they manipulated the courts by appointing a judge first Aldo Bare's soldier, then Belinda Balluku's sister-in-law and the former SP representative in the CEC and today by manipulating the lottery in the High Court, they replaced the judicial body and left to judge me the former Minister of Justice of the Socialist Party and a communist, the son of the former director of deportations and internees and former first secretary!
These are not the institutions we deserve, they are not a state of law and not even the rule of law.
For anyone who is concerned, I tell them to take the advance and the delay and the decision against them in the Constitutional Court, and then we will see how the justice will be in Strasbourg.
I will fight and seek justice until the end. Albania will be a better country when there is justice, when the Courts will have the courage to deliver justice even when the autocrat does not like it.
This good country may seem utopian, but the day is not far off when the citizens will have the final say on justice.
Despite the isolation, together we will fight for a decent and normal Albania where the law rules! Personally, I choose the battle and not the squabbles!
