Irena Gjoka did not declare the sentence in Greece/ Çela: It constitutes

Chief Prosecutor Olsjan Çela responded in Parliament to questions posed by DP MP Ivi Kaso regarding the case of judge Irena Gjoka, who was convicted in Greece and did not declare it before the vetting.

Çela said that the matter constitutes a criminal offense and as a result there are criminal sanctions.

"This issue was addressed and during the reporting to the Laws Committee it constitutes a criminal offense. There are 13 cases that we have referred to the prosecution regarding false declarations on the decriminalization form. There are criminal sanctions regarding this issue. At the end of the verification of the result, we send it to the competent body that then deals with the sanctions of the subject who made the declaration," said Çela. 

Regarding the timeline for the investigation process, Çela said,

"This process has no deadline. The deadline is extended by 3 months whenever there is a need to complete the verification. The responses to the letters of request are not in our hands, they depend on the foreign authorities."

Regarding the communication for verification, it was requested by the Supreme Court. We have had communication with SPAK, sending them materials about the case.

"The General Prosecutor's Office has tried to ensure full transparency, whoever needs to receive information will be provided with the information," said Çela./ CNA
