"Crime is on the decline"/ Koçiu: We are hitting crime where it

The Minister of Interior, Albana Koçiu, in her speech in the Assembly, presented the data from the prosecution and police reports regarding order and security throughout 2024. Koçiu said that the crime trend is decreasing and there are 41% fewer murders.

Koçiu stated that crime is being hit where it hurts the most, on property, after 234 properties worth 290 million lek were confiscated.

 

" The crime trend is decreasing.

There were 29 intentional homicides, 41% fewer murders than last year. Citizens today feel safer, criminal offenses against life and property are also on the decline.

There are 1,221 recorded cases.

Road safety has increased; over the years the number of fatal accidents has decreased by 40% despite the number of vehicles doubling.

According to data from the prosecution and the Agency for Seized and Confiscated Assets, there are 234 seized assets worth 290 million lek and 48 million euros, which means that we are hitting crime where it hurts the most.

The red line that this majority has set with crime has increased the number of investigations, which means that we are on the right track to eradicating crime.

"We will continue to support the justice institutions, our commitment is the effort for a European Albania, it is an effort for a state with higher security standards and increasingly safer," declared Koçiu./ CNA
