The General Secretary of the SP, Damian Gjiknuri, has revealed the reasons why there was a competition to choose the candidate for the municipality of Vlora.

Invited to the "Debate" show, Gjiknuri said that in Vlora, the SP dominated the opposition and the race between Ermal Dredhaa and Fate Velaj was very strong and with a close result.

Another reason was because Vlora has always had the most profound result from a political point of view, and therefore it was important that the candidate of this municipality had maximum interest and attention.

"Vlora has a different characteristic and I know it well. Many people and members of SP, because of the absolute dominance and serious investments that the government has made in this municipality, which has transformed it, has made it the maximum interest. So in terms of selection, the element of local support was needed. 

In Vlora there was a narrowing of the race. Fate Velaj had started the campaign a long time ago, but Mr. Ermal Dredha also came as a diplomat who could bring another dimension and the guarantee for the continuity of good works there. Vlora has the most profound result from a political point of view. In the last elections, the municipality of Vlorë had profound results" , said Gjiknuri./ CNA.al
