Gunther Krichbaum, the spokesman for European affairs of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group in the Bundestag, otherwise known as the "German" of Lulzim Basha, has reacted against the October 7 protest in the capital, while demanding that he no longer be at the head of the DP. Sali Berisha, thus expressing an internal desire of Basha, rather than his own opinion.

"If Berisha still had any credibility, he would have to immediately distance himself from this kind of protest and expel the violent from the party. Unfortunately, the suspicion arises that Berisha is further inciting these protests. A healthy democracy needs a government and a strong opposition. Berisha should not be presented as a victim of a politically motivated process, but should face the charges against him," said Krichbaum.

In conclusion, Krichbaum stated that the next few days will be decisive to see if the Democratic Party will have the necessary strength to renew itself and regain the trust of Albanian citizens and international partners.
