IDU/Mediu Forum: Albania in focus of concerns about democracy and security

Republican Party Chairman Fatmir Mediu is participating in the IDU forum in Zagreb where he also gave a statement to the media.

According to Mediu, Albania is in the focus of this forum due to concerns about democracy and security.

Mediu said that in this forum, they have presented several resolutions that are not only in the context of Albania, but also in its functioning as a NATO member state.

In these resolutions, Mediu said that malicious Russian and Chinese influences in Albania were also mentioned.

I want to clarify that the IDU, as one of the international conservative organizations, has as its members the Democratic Party and the Republican Party, which are partners and allies, that is, parties both in Albania and in this forum.

Also, secondly, I want to say that this forum is probably one of the most supportive forums of developments in relation to the opposition in Albania. It has raised extraordinary concerns about the use of the judiciary, the lack of free and fair elections, crime and corruption, problems that burden Albania, but also issues that affect Albania, including security and problems in the Balkan region.

It is one of the most organized forums where various personalities organize and discuss essential issues and in the current context of major security problems, relations within NATO, the problems of the United States of America with Europe.

The coming together of all parties, America, Canada, Australia, and Europe, to discuss together is an extremely important element. Mr. Berisha will be on a panel dealing with the Balkans, but the rest will undoubtedly be proactive, meaning in discussions on other issues as well.

I want to emphasize that a very important fact is, namely, for some resolutions that we have presented, not only in the Albanian context, but especially in the context of a presence and a functioning of Albania as a NATO member country in the Balkans and as a partner of Serbia, to continue then with the malicious influences of some countries such as Russia and China in relation to the Balkan region and unfortunately, namely, the influence that they have on political life, economic life and geopolitical developments and the role that we as a country should have in relation to these developments. So it is an extremely important forum and I hope that in the future we will hold such a forum in Tirana as well.
