"I thank rapporteur Andreas Schieder"/ Balla welcomes the report on

Minister of State, Taulant Balla, has reacted after the approval of the latest report on Albania by the European Parliament's Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET), thanking rapporteur Andreas Schieder for his assessment and support for the country's European journey.

"Thank you to the European Parliament Rapporteur, Andreas Schieder, for the report on Albania just approved by the Foreign Policy Committee (AFETT)," Balla wrote in a public reaction.

The report emphasizes Albania's commitment to membership in the European Union and evaluates the progress made so far, but also underlines the importance of continuing with the pace of reforms, especially in justice, the fight against corruption, and improving the economic and social model.

In his statement, rapporteur Andreas Schieder said:

“Albania can proudly be called a ‘leader’ among the candidate countries for EU membership. This is partly thanks to the broad support of the Albanian population. But we are not yet at the finish line. It is essential to continue on this path with the same pace and commitment, fighting corruption and strengthening the rule of law. The need to expand the economic model, create jobs and improve the social welfare model, as well as for a comprehensive and thorough electoral reform, must be emphasized.”

The report will be presented for a vote at a forthcoming plenary session of the European Parliament, marking another key moment for Albania's European integration process. /CNA
