Former Mayor Erion Veliaj has submitted his dismissal from office to the Constitutional Court.
Veliaj was dismissed on September 25 by decision of the Council of Ministers after being proposed by the Municipal Council.

In accordance with Article 100 of the Constitution and letter “c” of Article 62 of Law No. 139/2015, “On Local Self-Government”, as amended, upon the proposal of the Minister of State for Local Government, the Council of Ministers
DECIDED:
Mr. Erion Veliaj, Mayor of Tirana, is dismissed from this position, upon the proposal of the Tirana Municipal Council, approved by decision no. 69, dated 23.9.2025.
"This decision enters into force after publication in the "Official Gazette", the DCM stated.
Veliaj faces 13 charges for 5 serious criminal offenses. He was arrested on February 10 of this year./ CNA
