Rama's statement on toxic waste/ Muçollari: The peak of transparency
Member of the Presidency of the DP, Grigels Muçollari

The member of the Presidency of the Democratic Party, Grigels Muçollari, commented on the statements made yesterday evening by Prime Minister Edi Rama.

Muçollari has stated that last night Rama wasted the opportunity to be transparent about hazardous waste on social networks.

He stated that the Prime Minister has made the situation even more harmful, more acidic and more toxic than the waste containers themselves have brought.

Full statement:

The Prime Minister, annoyed to the maximum by the question, wasted an opportunity last night to make transparency regarding the dangerous waste, those 2 thousand 100 tons of material that remained in the open sea, but only one mile from Durrës.

He was asked in Opinion about the issue that has been a concern for citizens for 3 months now and he said that; this is a process.

So, according to Edi Rama, this is what people deserve to know about this story.

Neither where they originate, nor where they are kept, nor where they are stored, nor how they are treated, nor where they go, nor where they are, and not at all what measures are being taken after the Basel Network discovered the scandal.

Citizens, family members, parents who are worried, who want to know the truth about dangerous to toxic substances, who want to know how poisonous they are, why they are left as goods without a master, why they are poured around the world and come back again, where are generated and in how many countries in Albania, are there others that come to us and are trafficked, the Prime Minister passes all this with a nervous shake of the head and says; it is a process.

Precisely this arrogance, this lack of accountability, this total lack of transparency, this disregard of people who one day has the name Kumbaro, one day Vengu, and last night that of the Prime Minister has made the situation even more harmful, more acidic, and more toxic than they brought those 102 containers with them.

This escape from responsibility increases even more the suspicions that we are dealing with dangerous goods, and we are dealing with their illegal international traffic.

The Basel Convention to which we adhere provides strong penalties for the government of the country where this occurs.

And there is no doubt. 2 prosecutors in Durrës will not succeed in finding out the truth about the ship. Because they don't have the opportunity to hold Kumbaro, Venga, or Edi Rama accountable. The big joke will be this investigation. A process.../ CNA
