The head of the CEC, Ilirjan Celibashi, has stated that it will be very difficult for political parties to make all funding transparent in the period of the May 14 elections.

In a statement to the media, it was stated that political parties should show self-restraint and not spend unlimited money during the election campaign.

 "The readiness and seriousness of the CEC to approach this issue in full accordance with all the provisions of the electoral code to not be shy to bring to attention cases when political parties or different subjects have problems related to financing. I don't believe it will be so simple and there will be such transparency and opportunity to make public any abuse, but I think it will be something different from other times.

Beyond all the loaded political rhetoric that accompanies the election campaign, it seems that there is some kind of care, at least formally, to try to respect these rules. We can do more to restrain political parties from arrogantly demonstrating their power and their interest in spending unlimited money in the election campaign," said Celibashi./ CNA.al
