Bregu: Integration in the EU with concrete initiatives, the key we have in our

The General Secretary of the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC), Majlinda Bregu, participated in the EU-Western Balkans Foreign Ministers' Meeting, within the framework of the Berlin Process by the Albanian Government.

"A success story of regional cooperation, based on EU rules, and a symbolic entry ticket to the EU's single market saw the green light on 1 October - when the EU-Balkans roaming reductions came into force Western. This was a clear demonstration of our commitments made and promises kept. In the circumstances of a difficult current reality, we managed, however, all together, in partnership and close cooperation with the European Commission, and under the guidance, the political support of the European Union and the 38 telecom operators, to make it possible in October 1, the first reduction of roaming charges between the European Union and the Western Balkans", said Majlinda Bregu.

"This achievement is just one of the victories of the Common Regional Market. It means a lot to us, as it gives meaning to regional cooperation. Every time we come together, to make initiatives and projects to make life easier for our citizens more tangible, we can really do good work. We are investing to further expand the group of professions covered by the first historic Mobility Agreement for the recognition of professional qualifications in our region. Last year in Berlin, we signed the first set of these agreements and now, RCc is aiming to add four new professions, which will be recognized in every country in the region, this initiative is ready to be adopted , on October 16, at the Summit", added Bregu.

The Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the region and the EU were present at the meeting, including the German Foreign Minister, Annalena Baerbock, to discuss the geopolitical situation, challenges and opportunities in the future, for strengthening economic and regional cooperation and advancing integration. of the region in the EU.

"Our region is not where we would like and where it should be. Unfortunately, the conflicts that still persist can hinder investment and economic growth. Therefore, the Western Balkans must do its part. It's a big, ongoing job that the Western Balkans should do, but sometimes doesn't. This is a fact that must change as soon as possible, because we have the keys in our hand to make the expansion between the region and the EU as reliable as possible", concluded Bregu.

The meeting precedes the Berlin Process Summit, which will take place in 10 days in the Albanian capital, which is the first of the region's capitals to host this Summit./ CNA
