The Secretary General of the Socialist Party, Blendi Klosi, said that the Socialist Party is ready for the race for the Municipality of Tirana, which according to him will be a tough battle.

Invited to a television show, Klosi said that the Socialists are also awaiting the opposition candidate and described it as a misfortune that they have not yet managed to find candidates.

Klosi also commented on the dismissal of the arrested former mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, while emphasizing that Tirana needs governance.  

"We are ready for the Tirana race, which I believe will be strong. We also expect the opposition to have its candidate. But it seems that this is difficult for them. It is unfortunate for the country that we have an opposition that cannot find candidates, as candidates are withdrawing from the race. The process of detaining Veliaj without any reason was a problem. This situation has been going on for 7 months. On the other hand, we could not wait indefinitely. The Socialist Party does not interfere with justice, but Tirana needs governance. Justice has its job, we have a duty to govern. Manastirliu is a very good figure for the governance of Tirana," said Klosi./ CNA
