On December 6, BKH officers conducted inspections in the apartments and offices of the mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, his wife, Ajola Xoxa, and his brother, Arbër Veliaj. ( Read here )

The reason for these controls was the property investigation that SPAK is conducting against Veliaj and his family members, while the investigation also includes other large files for the mayor.

However, Veliaj's media tried to sell this action as a check on Ajola Xoxa and Arbë Veliaj, and not on the mayor.

Analysts and journalists followed the same thesis this evening.  ( Read here )

One of them was the former minister Ylli Manjani. The latter claimed that the control of Veliaj's brother and his wife Ajola Xoxa was requested.

He raised the claim that there is no property investigation for Erion Veliaj, but for Arbë Veliaj.

In fact, this is fake news, since neither Arbri nor Ajola are SPAK's competence.  ( Read here )

Arbër Veliaj and Ajola Xoxa are not state officials nor part of structured criminal groups.

The one who is being investigated is Erion Veliaj as mayor and the checks on his family members were done precisely because of Erion Veliaj.

Even Veliaj himself admitted that he is under financial investigation by the Special Prosecutor's Office.

So the attacks by journalists and analysts who have become part of Veliaj's court have no value and every thesis raised is false./ CNA
