The head of the Republican Party, Fatmir Mediu, spoke about his visit to Washington together with other exponents of the opposition.

During an interview, Mediu revealed what he discussed with the internationals.

He told them that the opposition wants a technical government so that the administration, government and crime can take their hands off the elections in Albania.

"Our request for a caretaker government is not a request to participate in the government with Rama, as has happened. It is the request to create a government like in Macedonia, where for a certain period of time, they try to separate the state administration, or the problems they have with corruption and crime, from the election problems.

So remove the hands of the administration, crime, the government from manipulating the elections and this serves the interests of the country. And this is the discourse we have had with the internationals.

We are not looking for an opposition government, but a government that guarantees free and fair elections, because it has been proven that we did not have free and fair elections. I don't know what else is needed to prove this, the OSCE-ODIHR report, or other concrete facts that have come out, where certain criminal groups determine who are the MPs on the SP list.

We must reach the conviction that we are a NATO member country and we must have free and fair elections, where everyone plays on equal ground, with equal conditions, in a law and electoral reform completed according to OSCE requirements -ODIHR that we did not have and have not had since 2013, in a functional constitution that was violated by the SP.
