The head of the DP parliamentary group, Gazment Bardhi, during the visit to the British Parliament, met with the debutante MPs Martin Vickers and Stephen Gethins, to whom he expressed gratitude for the contribution they have made in strengthening the relations between the two countries.

From a post on "Facebook", Bardhi writes "Britain is an example of democracy and we have a lot to learn from them."

"The pleasure of meeting MPs Martin Vickers and Stephen Gethins during the visit to the British Parliament, friends of Albania and with an extraordinary contribution to strengthening the relations between our two countries. Britain is an example of democracy and we have a lot to learn from theirs.

The need to have free and fair elections, through a caretaker government that addresses the key OSCE-ODIHR recommendation to ban the use of the state in elections; the rule of law and an independent justice system; as well as the concern for the mass departures of Albanians, mainly young people due to economic impossibility and meritocracy, were some of the issues we discussed.

I also thanked MP Martin Vickers for the support that our sister party of the British Conservatives gave to the Democratic Party at the IDU Executive Meeting for the adoption of the Resolution on Albania, which was a realistic scan of the situation and strong support for the DP's causes, including the demand for the creation of a Caretaker Government for the elections according to the model of North Macedonia.

At the beginning of next year, a delegation of the British Conservative Party will visit Albania and the Democratic Party of Albania, with the aim of deepening and strengthening cooperation, as well as mutual support between our two parties." /CNA
