Balluku: The new electricity billing system for bakeries has found the agreement

The new electricity billing system for entities that operate as bakeries has found the agreement of all stakeholders. The new system is based on the typology of each of the subjects, depending on the activity they exercise.

There are nearly 2,600 entities throughout the country that are affected by this new system, which are divided into three categories, entities that operate only as bakeries, those that operate as bakeries but also sell pastry products, as well as entities that are integrated where, in addition to operating as a bakery, they also sell pastry products, including coffee bars.

The Deputy Prime Minister, at the same time the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku, together with the Administrator of OSHEE, Enea Karakaçi, drew one of the entities which, in addition to the bakery, also operates in the sale of pastry products and coffee bars, which with the scheme the new one will be billed at a price of 12 lek per kilowatt.

The administrator of OSHEE explained that after the approval of the new scheme, the working groups have started field verifications to divide the subjects according to three categories, as he emphasized that so far the whole process has found the support of all subjects.

"Also from the bakeries' side, there has been maximum cooperation. They understood the process. They know it's for their own good. Those that are large entities, definitely know that they have a much wider activity and maybe they can pay something more, but all other entities, those that only have a bakery or a bakery and a pastry shop, come out victorious." said Karakaçi.

Minister Balluku described the new billing scheme as fair and puts an end to a long-standing problem. It also promotes competition within the sector. Balluku further stated that through this scheme there will be no increase in the price of products.

"Everyone will be treated equally, they will be treated in an orderly manner, because we must not forget that energy generally goes over 20% of the cost of a product and going over 20% of the cost of a product is very important. Therefore, when there is an equal treatment in the market and a fair treatment, the competition between the parties will be fair because here was the problem of competition. So we have stabilized this whole process once and for all, achieving and having transparency in terms of monthly measurement", said Balluku.

So far, more than 1300 subjects have been verified by the OSHEE groups, in order to categorize them. With the new scheme, bakeries that sell only bread will be billed at the price of 7.6 Lek per kilowatt, those that sell pastry products in addition to bread, will have a price of 9.5 Lek per kilowatt, while entities that sell bread in addition to pastry products, as well as those that work as coffee bars, will be billed at the price of 12 lek per kilowatt./ CNA
