Balluku: In 2024, we marked a milestone for the infrastructure

The Deputy Prime Minister at the same time and the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku, while congratulating the Albanians for the new year 2025, stated that in 2024 the government has marked a milestone for the infrastructure.

"On this first day of 2025, I want to wish all Albanians a good year, with health and prosperity and full of harmony in their families, but above all, I want to congratulate and thank the employees of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy and dependent enterprises, which contribute to the energy and infrastructure sectors, for everything they have done during 2024, for the promises kept and the goals achieved.

In 2024, we marked a milestone for the infrastructure.

The opening of the Llogara tunnel, one of the dreams in the drawers of all governments, was realized in 2024 by the Rama government. Also, we had the opportunity to start work and deliver one of the most important segments of the Blue Corridor. Thumane-Kashar began to be in use from the end of June 2024, followed by the signing of contracts for the other three segments of this Corridor and the opening of the international competition for the construction of the Milot-Balldren segment, much awaited by Shkodra and from Lezha.

On the other hand, we must say that many good works will be done in 2025 as well. We have a construction site, which is one of the most important construction sites, that of Corridor VIII, where work is being done to build an interconnection which will be the one that will give breathing space, not only to Albania, but also to other countries in the region. And this Corridor VIII will be connected to the new port built in Porto-Romano, whose competition, an international competition, is already open. Porto-Romano, the new port of the Albanians will serve Kosovo and North Macedonia, but it will also be a security port, since the construction of a NATO military base is foreseen there.

Energy has made significant strides during 2024, for the first time our companies have managed to have positive, well-managed balance sheets. Technically well managed, offering better energy distribution or transmission conditions, but on the other hand, there is also a very important achievement during 2024, stabilization of the finances of these economies, giving us the opportunity during 2025 to reduce the price of electricity for all Albanians.

Also, we have reduced technical losses to the level of 17.93, creating plus income for companies and thus enabling the reduction of this energy price. Also, during the summer season, we have managed to cope with unforeseen and never-before-seen flows and demand for electricity. However, the system has worked best thanks to the extraordinary work done by all the employees of OSHEE, or even those of OST.

We must bear in mind that the year 2025 will be a year full of challenges for all our sectors. We are sure that a lot of good work has been done, but we still have a long way to go. I am confident that with the commitment and great desire of all the employees of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, but also those who work in our dependencies, we will succeed in doing even better work.

We have changed the water supply and sewerage sector fourfold, increasing the revenues and finances of this sector, improving their financial situation, but on the other hand, serving even better with modernized systems and with safe systems for all citizens.

Another milestone has been set in 2024 for the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, for Civil Aviation, over 10 million passengers have landed at the Rinas airport, at the Albanian airport, which will be followed in 2025 with another international airport. that of Vlora, where everyone is looking forward to his operations from the summer of this year.

Good news, like those at the end of the year, we will have it complete during 2025, just as Tirana was surrounded by a modern infrastructural ring that meets all the conditions and parameters and criteria of the European Union, so we will continue to work throughout the country, to complete all the construction sites that have already started or to open the new construction sites, which will take Albania to another level, to a European level, as we promised, as we are doing with our work every day.
