The Minister of the Interior, Bledi Çuçi, said today in Parliament that the American DEA has not opened an office in Tirana.
According to him, in our country there is only one permanent person who cooperates with the Albanian authorities for organized crime.
But a statement made earlier by the US embassy in Tirana "bluffed" the interior minister.
On September 16, 2022, when the DEA decided to come to Tirana, the American embassy announced that Special Agent Leddy and other DEA personnel had arrived.
"Special Agent Leddy along with additional DEA personnel will cooperate closely with SPAK and Albanian law enforcement counterparts to strengthen the partnership in international operations against narcotics and organized crime. Special Agent Leddy will further support skill building in counter-narcotics investigative techniques," the statement said.
So, the boss and his subordinates are in Albania, as the US embassy has informed us, and not just one permanent person, as Çuçi claimed in the Parliament./ CNA
