The head of the Democratic Party's dissident group, Enkelejd Alibeaj, said he reacted to the decision announced today by the Constitutional Court on the right of immigrants to vote.

Through a status on social networks, Alibeajt says that this decision is a blow to the 2021 elections, which he calls unconstitutional.

Alibeaj "beat his chest", as he vows to offer the opportunity for immigrants to vote freely in the upcoming elections.

“Vendimi i sotëm i Gjykatës Kushtetuese për të drejtën e votës së emigrantëve, është një fitore e madhe për shqiptarët dhe votën e lirë në Shqipëri.

Njëkohësisht, ky vendim është një grusht për zgjedhjet e vitit 2021, të cilat me plot gojën mund të quhen antikushtetuese.

Për Partinë Demokratike, ky vendim është dëshmi e asaj që kemi thënë në krye të herës, se mohimi i të drejtës së votës së shqiptarëve që jetojnë jashtë Shqipërisë, është cënim i të drejtës kushtetuese të votës.

Gjithashtu ky vendim është dëshmi tashmë Kushtetuese, që zgjedhjet e shkuara janë një pasqyrim jo real i votës dhe rrjedhimisht janë zgjedhje të cilësuara tashmë zyrtarisht antikushtetuese.

DP welcomes this decision and offers all its readiness to enable the right to vote denied to Albanian immigrants in the next elections. We are fully committed to implementing the decision of the Constitutional Court in the new Electoral Reform.
