12 million tourists by 2024/ Rama: I would prefer Albania to become a "new

Prime Minister Edi Rama has conducted an exclusive interview with Richard Attias, the well-known organizer of FII (Future Investment Initiative), the global platform that after Miami came to Europe for the first time, here in Tirana.

Rama has spoken about tourism, saying that he would prefer Albania to become a "new Italy."

"First of all, I was a little scared when you said new Switzerland because on the one hand I think we can't become perfect like a Swiss watch and on the other hand if we did, Albania would become boring.

I would prefer a new Italy where you find opportunities, where you find the pleasure of hospitality, of food, but also a place where you don't lose your smile.

God has blessed us, but history has cursed us, a curse to which, to be honest, we have also contributed for many centuries.

This country with a very small territory of only 28 thousand square kilometers, where you find two seas, mountains, 9 rivers, lakes, you find a different landscape for every kilometer. It is truly a place to visit, a place to stay, to invest, but this country has suffered greatly from stigma and it has been very difficult to bring people to Albania because the stigma was too great.

Then when they came, every time they came they said, "Oh, but here it's not what we expected."

Now we have come out of it, last year we closed with 12 million tourists, and that is huge for a country with 2.4 million inhabitants.

"Now we are seeking to receive what you are so kindly bringing to the country, excellence, the best quality, because we need to strike a balance between mass and quality, otherwise we may lose the opportunity to be Switzerland but also Italy," said Rama./ CNA
