Lefter Maliqi, who ran for MP with the Alliance for a Greater Albania coalition, commented today on the results of the May 11 parliamentary elections. In a television studio, Maliqi said that the system is corrupt and that the closed list is a national disaster and for democracy in Albania.

Maliqi said that there was unprecedented jealousy towards him to hit him during his candidacy.

Maliqi praised the work of the Democratic Party leader Berisha, whom he considered a tireless man during the campaign.

"Due to the unfair electoral code, I had to work hard. This system is corrupt for me, the closed list is a national disaster and for democracy in Albania. I stand by the electoral massacre that occurred, I am proud of the votes I received. The electoral race was unequal. It was known that Lefter Maliqi would come third, but some leaders of the DP, starting from the political leader, which I also told leader Berisha, did not work properly, they oriented the votes. They had unprecedented jealousy to hit me. I had told the united opposition and leader Berisha that I was not interested in the mandate of the deputy. There are other tasks that I can serve my supporters. Everyone focused on Kuçova and Otllak, they wanted to harm me. The DP rally was held in Berat, failed. I asked leader Berisha for a rally in Kuçova and I held a grand rally in the city of Kuçova. There was a protocol that open list candidates should not speak, how can an open list candidate not speak, when the people will vote for me. Berisha was tireless from morning to night, those under him could not follow him, not to mention that they cheated him. Apart from Berisha, the vast majority of political leaders did not work. They did not work because they were sure of it. If Ilir Meta were out, the Freedom Party would have many more votes. In the DP, let's not have a battle with each other, but with the opponent. Mr. Noka told me to protect my vote, how will you protect your vote, I don't know who to protect myself from, the Democrats or the Socialists. 5222 votes are a lot for me and the Freedom Party, where we did not have counters or observers, I am convinced that there was manipulation.
