The chairman of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, participated virtually in the event organized by the Democratic Party, on the occasion of the 112th anniversary of the raising of the flag in Elbasan.

Berisha said that Elbasan has a great contribution to history, at all times.

He declared that already this city and all of Albania are experiencing a dictatorship that is destroying the national identity.

The head of the Democratic Party demanded that every citizen of Elbasan rise in protest to overthrow the government.

"Elbasan was and will become the cradle of Albanianism, not in one, but in several fundamental directions. The alphabet that was voted in Manastir flew to Elbasan to the school, the Normal of this city, the first university of Albanians. But, with the gathering of this intellectual elite, but also of the patriotic clerics of the religious beliefs of this city.

Elbasan became the cradle of the later great developments of the Islamic community, whose decisions are of historical importance for the Albanian Muslim faithful. They express in the most wonderful way the spirit and faith of Albanians.

The Commission of Elbasan for the language was another major act of this city and the Albanian elite that joined there, in which the most correct orientations were determined, or it was the second major step after the alphabet for the unification of Albanians in their language.

Dear friends, Elbasan's contribution to history at all times is a great contribution. I believe that this blessed city, even at this time that we are experiencing a dictatorship, if I say exterminating, with others this word can kill your ear. But the reality is this. A nation that has known dozens of invasions over centuries and millennia, there is no other invasion like this one that, in 10 years, has removed 40% of the Albanian people from Albania.

In this respect, this event that we celebrate today should be a great inspiration for us, as those men in the most difficult conditions decided to wave the national flag. Today, every citizen of Elbasan is asked to stand up and save Albania from this policy which is destroying our being, our national identity.

Against this dictatorship, the worst in history in the sense that gang dictatorships have been rated by historians as the worst because they follow no rules, no laws, no Constitution, except the dictator's psychic stream. The battle we wage today is a just cause, it is a cause that will win. In case we come back together a year ago, two years ago, or even 6 months ago, we will see that in the ordeal he imposed on them", emphasized Berisha./ CNA
