RTSH REMAINS THE PROPERTY OF POLITICIANS AND NOT OF THE PUBLIC THAT FINANCES IT

The servitude to politics once again deprived the tax-paying public of the right to have its own screen, thus continuing the old trend of RTSH being in the hands of politics.

More precisely, the majority "owners" of power, although even the official name of this institution, which is the largest media outlet in the country, defines it as Radio Televizioni Publik Albanian (RTPSH).

Not so much because of the important fact that it is financed by public money, but because being legally subordinate to the state, a defender of public interests, it is easier to manage its impartiality and media freedom in favor of the general public.

As if strictly respecting everything contained in the legal package of the administration of this institution, it is more possible for RTPSH to rise to the level of the missing standard to then be a locomotive for other private media wagons. Some of which, painfully, must be admitted to be much higher than the one financed by the billions from the public tax budget, without counting the billions of advertising and other secondary income.

The billions with which are financed, annually, among other things, the army of employees divided into inherited, taken for the sake of militancy, taken from those who bought the workplace with money, taken as temporary and defined as permanent etc. In less words, currently the structure of RTPSH (I will call it that, that is Public, as it legally is and not RTSH, as legally it is not), turns out to be a mixture where, for more than three decades, the "head chef", " the cooks" and the entire army of servants wore costumes of major political fashion salons "made in" Berisha, "made in" Nano, "made in" Rama. Ignoring, even openly violating the legal package that defines the management criteria of this media entity in function of the public, to which,

It has been denied because the "fiddle" has been stolen from him by politics, which dictates but does not pay. That, despite the calls of the internationals, he does not listen to let go, that, surprisingly, through the amoral maneuvers of the passen, has decided the composition of the Governing Council, with 11 members and a chairman (who always votes biasedly for power), who, apparently, are elected by the Assembly , after a selection based on "proposals" and "merit", but with votes of deputies, who are deeply representative of political subjects.

That RTSH has been and continues to be owned by politics and not the public is shown by the fact that everyone in this Council, from the President to the last soldier, is not ashamed to openly express their political bias . The other fact is also that of the appointment at the head of the institution, of that competitor who has "grunt" with the head of the ruling majority and never of any professional with the side of the financing public.

Wanting not to dwell too much on the past, when as the "iron hand" of the political brand at the head of RTSH served as trustees of APS, DP, SP and "Rilindja", we are stopping at the most recent one. appointment. Where Alfred Peza was appointed as general director of RTSH of politics.

As before, all the scheme for the "election" of Peza was a shameful staging. That started from the placement in front of him of some rival candidacies without form and background. In front of four other rivals in the race, Alfred Peza stood in the ratio of the one-eyed man among the blind, imposing the victory and putting in place the order of the "Renaissance Length" to continue, as until now, under the attack his political RTSH.

The biggest media institution of the country, whose head at that time when he was looking for votes to remove his predecessor Berisha from office, among other electoral promises, he swore to remove it from the clutches of politics to return it to the public. A promise that remained unchanged in all legal undertakings for the reformation of the political RTSH in the RTPSH.

The transition of Alfred Peza to the head of the management of this institution is the latest political game. Peza replaced Enkel Joti, another loyal soldier of Edi Rama who, like other Kanaka Pezas, is piloted by the Prime Minister in the foci of delicate enterprises that bring unwanted consequences if they are not controlled by him.

Before Joti, the political RTSH was led by Thoma Gëllçi. massively known as the editor-in-chief of "Zerit te Populli", organ of KP, ALP of SP and fanatical supporter of this party... So, Alfred Peza is not only the same prototype champion "selected" to be the General Director of political RTSH, through an appointment process sold as an election contest, but also the living and fresh fact of flagrant violation of legal criteria and procedures.

The "SafeJournalists" network, which has more than 8,200 members in the Western Balkans, reacted strongly to the total silence of the Albanian organizations and groups, which claim to protect the legal rights of independence and media freedom, regarding the appointment of Alfred Peza.

In a letter addressed to the highest state institutions and the main embassies in Albania, the Network assesses that the selection process of the General Director of RTSH has been carried out in violation of some basic criteria. The Network's concerns, as quoted in the addressed letter: "Stem from the important political history of Mr. Peza, including his mandate as a deputy of the Socialist Party, from 2013-2017, being the Secretary of Relations with Civil Society and the Media, of Socialist Party until September 2021" etc.

In the text of the addressed letter, the Network lists other supporting reasons for not appointing Alfred Peza to the post of General Director of RTSH, but these are enough to not hope that with Peza at the head of the "skin and bones" institution administratively and professionally, the political flag of "renaissance" will not continue to be waved.
