The Albanian government has admitted that on July 4, a month and a half ago, in the Port of Durrës, the largest in the country, a criminal traffic was carried out with 800 tons of waste suspected to be dangerous, toxic material.

After many days of silence, a ministry spokesperson has admitted to the Bloomberg agency that this happened, and that our authorities are investigating the case.

The government admitted under the pressure created by agencies and states from Italy to Malaysia, and by the opposition's denunciations, that there are dangerous wastes in Albania and that they are illegally trafficked.

If it were not for the Basel Network, if there were no protests in Thailand, if Bloomberg did not report the case, this traffic would have continued.

No one can say how many times it has happened so far.

Since the ships with 800 tons of waste are returning to Durrës due to the international alarm, the Government was finally forced to react.

As in other cases when she is caught tight, she says she didn't know anything.

100 massive containers of hazardous materials were loaded onto her back.

Behind the back of this government that has spent millions of euros on satellites and drones and that has put thousands of Albanians in prisons for unauthorized additions or for fixing roofs.

Who believes that the Government did not know?

Who believes that 800 tons of waste were loaded in the middle of the day on the eastern quay, and the director of the Port, who later became Minister of Defense, knew nothing?

Customs didn't know?

Didn't the Port police know?

Nobody knew anything!

This scandal must be fully investigated and full transparency is demanded. We hope that the EU and NATO will be taken seriously. If it is for the SPAK, it will certainly seem like a sophisticated intellectual work and it will be difficult to find the people responsible for this monumental violation of the law of abuse of office.

The Basel Convention, which we signed in 1997, obliges Albania to take measures and implement a rigorous protocol in such cases.

Our laws strictly define what is reasonable. All are irreplaceable. No container would have been able to board those ships without a wink from the big bosses.

We want justice. We want security for life and health. We do not deserve hazardous waste, and mafia business with it.
