"What is this news that shook the earth? It even darkened the sun this time. How can we believe that comrade Enver has left us?"

For Mero Bazen, the death of Enver Hoxha , the communist dictator who ruled with an iron fist for over 40 years in Albania, was something terrible, unbelievable .

Mero was a student when Enver died on April 11, 1985, and the news of the dictator's death became the most terrible event of his life. The "symbol of freedom" had been lost, and he could not believe it.

"The mountains, the slopes, where his feet have trodden, have been marked. Albania has been marked, it is mourning its brave son."

Mero is, however, certain that Enver died physically, but not in his mind and heart, and as he emphasizes, he never dies because he is a "symbol of freedom" and a "brilliance of history."

It seems unbelievable, but it's true.

And as Mero writes in his poem, about Enver, "Generations after generation swear." The oath here belongs to Mero, who promises universally that "Enver" will not die, he will live on as the symbol of freedom.

"Pain and Oath" is a book published in April 1985, with poems by 34 students who at that time painfully experienced the death of the communist dictator, Enver Hoxha.

In fact, the death of Enver Hoxha was experienced badly by many people at the time, most of whom were "hypnotized" by the psychological terror of the time and the fear of dictatorial punishment.

But among them, there were people like Mero, who were not only able to do their "duty" by attending the tributes to Enver Hoxha, as Merua can be seen in this photo, but also to write poetry about him and publish it in a special book, along with 33 other people, the future intellectuals of Albania.

"The great pain of the loss of the dear leader of the party and the people, our glorious teacher, comrade Enver Hoxha, deeply touched the hearts of the army of students, professors and employees of the University that today proudly bears his name.

Dozens of poems have been written these days. They are simple, but come from the heart. We have compiled a portion of these poems in this volume. In every stanza, in every line, in addition to the extraordinary pain, one also feels the oath: "For life and for life, we will hold high the name and work of comrade Enver Hoxha."
