"Zai Fundo, the intellectual who does not agree with injustice"/

The Head of the Department of Language and Literature at "Fan Noli" University, Eris Rusi, was one of the participants in the symposium "Llazar Fundo - prominent figure of Albanian and European thought".

In a response to CNA, Rusi said that Zai Fundo embodies what Antonio Gramsci labels as the organic, non-submissive intellectual.

The Russian said that for the sake of ideals, he suffered a tragic fate. Further, the head of the Department of Language and Literature said that the aim is to re-evaluate the intellectual and human contribution of Zai Fundo, who gave a lot to Albanian history and culture.

" Memory is what nourishes the consciousness of a nation and this scientific activity organized today at Fan Noli University aims to put in place what is a oblivion about one of the intellectuals of Albanian culture, Zai Fundo, who embodies what Antonio Gramsci labels as the organic intellectual, an intellectual who does not submit but is always in search of those solutions that are in the interest of society. An intellectual who does not agree with injustice and when he sees that things need to take a different direction, he does not step back and does not hesitate to come to the forefront. The tragic trajectory of Zai Fundo's life itself is such that for the sake of ideals he suffers a tragic fate and today the activity aims to reassess the human and intellectual contribution of this personality who has essentially given much to the culture and history of our country ", said Rusi./ CNA
