Gentian Qarri's murder/ Details emerge from the massive operation in Vlora

The Special Prosecution Office Against Corruption and Organized Crime (SPAK) has issued seven arrest warrants this Saturday, March 7, as part of investigations into serious crimes. The operation took place in the city of Vlora, where special forces RENEA and FNSH landed in the early hours of the morning in the "Cold Water" area.

According to reports from the field, the action was also monitored from the air with drones, and is suspected to be related to the unraveling of the murder of Gentian Qarri, an event that occurred on February 6, 2021 in Vlora.

The attack on the 40-year-old man occurred at around 18:16 in the “29 Nëntori” neighborhood, near the city library. The man was shot by a moving vehicle. He was initially injured and transported to the hospital, but died as a result of his injuries. At least 11 shell casings were found at the scene, while the victim had sustained wounds to the chest and leg.

Following the incident, authorities discovered a burnt-out Toyota vehicle with Greek license plates in the Soda Forest area, suspected to have been used by the perpetrators. A Kalashnikov assault rifle was also found inside the vehicle.

Gentian Qarri had previously been sentenced to 15 years in prison in Italy for drug trafficking. He had returned to Albania about three years before he was killed and, according to reports, was working in the field of air conditioning installation and repair.

Preliminary sources indicate that among the people suspected of involvement in this crime are several well-known names in the criminal world, such as Flodian Plaku, known by the nickname "Pole Qorri", as well as Ervis Matodoshaj and Ines Hajrulla.

The old man is considered one of the main figures in drug trafficking from Vlora to Italy. He was arrested in Orikum on August 3 last year, also suspected of being one of the three assassins of Gentjan Bejtje, who was executed in March 2024 in Larushk, Fushë-Krujë.

Meanwhile, SPAK is expected to issue an official announcement on the details of the operation and its results.
