From Ksamil to Koman, 17 vessels are blocked

The Border Police and the Maritime Police Unit have continued checks along the entire coastline, lake and river areas, even during the first week of September.

As a result of controls within the "Maritime Security" operation, during this week from Ksamil to Koman, 17 vessels were blocked.

Blocked vehicles: 9 jet skis, 4 speedboats, 3 dinghies and 1 metal boat.

10 vessels were blocked from Ksamil to Vlora.

5 vessels are blocked from Durrës to Shengjin.

1 vessel is stranded in Velipoja and 1 metal boat with water motor for navigation is stranded in Koman.

5 of the blocked vessels were found by the services of the Border Police and those of the Maritime Police Unit, sailing within the security perimeter, a violation which endangered the lives of vacationers. The drivers of these vehicles were each punished with an administrative measure of 100,000 new alleks.

The drivers of 12 other vessels, in addition to the measure of blocking the means, were each punished with an administrative measure of 10,000 ALL for lack of documentation.

During this week, the Maritime Police Unit and the Border Police have provided assistance to tourists and visitors in 11 cases in the maritime space from Ksamil to Koman. In most cases, tourists' lives were seriously endangered due to the breakdown of the vessels or the inability to return to the shore due to the waves.

The Border Police appeals to all users of watercraft to strictly follow the rules for the use of watercraft and to be equipped with lifesaving equipment, as well as to be vigilant during navigation respecting the security perimeter./ CNA
