Road safety checks in Elbasan/ Around 6 thousand fines for vehicle drivers

In order to meet road safety parameters, the Elbasan Road Police has intensified controls and monitoring with modern means, on all axes.

As a result, during the period 1–22 May 2025, 16 drivers were arrested and 8 others were prosecuted at large, for the criminal offenses of "Irregular driving" and "Violation of road traffic rules".

Additionally, 5631 administrative measures have been imposed on drivers, as follows:

•1364 drivers were fined for exceeding the permitted speed limits;

•147 for driving after consuming alcohol;

•481 for using a mobile phone while driving;

•1221 for committing wrong overtaking;

•178 motor vehicle drivers for not wearing a protective helmet;

•925 for not wearing a seat belt;

•92 for tinted windows;

•356 for stopping or stopping a vehicle in violation of road signs;

•867 for other violations of the Highway Code.

The Elbasan Traffic Police appeals to all drivers to strictly enforce road traffic rules. /CNA
