The Special Prosecutor's Office has reacted regarding the arrest of the "strongman" of Sukthi, Rexhep Rapi, who was involved in an attempted murder with former crime boss Dedan Gjoni.

The nephew of Rexhep Rapi, Algert Rapi, as well as a police officer, who were arrested by order of SPAK, were also taken into custody.

SPAK has revealed that the event was planned to take place on September 17, 2019 in the city of Durrës.

According to SPAK, the fourth author involved in the organization of the assassination attempt against Xhevdet Plaku is abroad and has been arrested by the Dutch authorities.

Xhevdet Plaku is otherwise known as "Akili".

The Special Prosecutor's Office against Corruption and Organized Crime in cooperation with the National Bureau of Investigation has conducted investigations within the framework of criminal proceedings no. 19/2022, which was registered based on information provided by the justice authorities of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

From the actions carried out up to this stage of the investigation, it has emerged that the citizens of RR, D.GJ., AR in cooperation with the citizen DD (police employee) have consumed the criminal fact of providing the conditions and material means to commit a murder, in damage to the citizen Xh. P., event planned to take place on 17.09.2019, in Durrës.

On 16.12.2023, the Special Prosecutor's Office requested the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime to assign personal security measures "arrest in prison" to citizens under investigation RR, D.GJ., DD ( police officer at that time in DVP Durrës) and AR

The Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime with decision no. 138 dated 20.12.2023 has decided:

The assignment of personal security measures of coercive character "prison arrest", provided by article 238 of the Criminal Code, to the investigated RR, D.GJ, DD and AR, as suspects for committing the criminal offenses of "Security of the conditions and material means to commit murder", to the detriment of the citizen Xh.P., carried out in the special cooperation of the structured criminal group, "Structured criminal group" and "Perpetration of criminal offenses by the structured criminal group and criminal organization", provided by articles 80, 28/4, 333/a and 334 of the Criminal Code.

On 22.12.2023, the General Directorate of the State Police executed personal security measures "arrest in prison", for the investigators RR, AR, and D.GJ. Also on 22.12.2023 the citizen under investigation D.GJ was arrested in Limburg, the Netherlands. The arrest of D.GJ. was made as a result of cooperation with the authorities of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and Interpol.

We thank the State Police for the professionalism shown and the close cooperation during the execution phase of the court decision.
