New details have come to light from the biggest trial that has taken place in Belgium where there are 125 people who have appeared before the court, as well as 4 companies, thanks to the breakdown of the encrypted messaging application "Sky ECC". They are accused of road traffic and most of them are Albanian citizens. The media in Belgium write that one of the leaders of the group, who is an Albanian citizen, has decided to speak first.

Eridan Munoz Guerrero is one of the main defendants in this mega-trial in Brussels, along with more than 120 other people, French, Belgian, Albanian, Colombian or North African - discovered mainly thanks to the decryption of messages on Encrochat and Sky.

The Albanian explained that he was responsible for renting luxury cars and monitoring drivers who were sending cocaine to Italy, Germany and even Sweden, this through Belgium.

"I take responsibility for what I did, I confirm all my statements to the police, I confirm that I led a group of traffickers", he declared.

Guerrero made it clear that he was responsible for placing crates of drugs in cars used for deliveries. But here are a hundred people I don't even know," added Eridan Munoz Guerrero.

The case concerns the extensive international trafficking of cocaine and cannabis, cracked down by the Belgian police in 2021-2022 in cooperation with allies in Italy and Germany.

The drugs were transported in containers from South America and Morocco, respectively, through the ports of Antwerp, Rotterdam, Hamburg and Le Havre. Cocaine was processed in Belgium, sometimes mixed with chemicals.

Eridan Munoz Guerrero, born in Albania in 1973 and who lived in the 2000s in Germany, where he is known to the courts, is among dozens of defendants named as suspected "leaders" of criminal organizations.

A total of 125 people were tried, including one who was never identified. Added to this are four companies established in Belgium, suspected of concealing illegal activities.

Some defendants such as Munoz Guerrero have been in custody in Belgium since their arrest. Others have been placed under house arrest.

Participation in a criminal organization, violation of drug legislation, arms trafficking, are some of the criminal offenses for which the prisoners are accused. It is also about kidnapping and attempted extortion.

The trial is expected to last at least four months, with three days of hearings per week.

In addition to seizures made at ports or cocaine processing laboratories operating in Belgium, the investigation was based on information intercepted on Encrochat and Sky ECC.

These encrypted phone systems, very popular with criminals, were dismantled in 2020 and 2021 thanks to the joint efforts of the Dutch, French and Belgian police.

Regarding Eridan Munoz Guerrero, investigators identified at least four different aliases used to communicate at Sky ECC./ CNA
